Hello James Rawlins Relatives / Harvey M Rawlins Relatives 2007
Surprise! You thought I was dead! Several people have contacted me recently about how the Rawlins research is going. (I think my husband, Lindsay, and Velma are pushing me from the other side.) I talked to Bert Rawlins who has been checking each generation back to be sure all the data has been documented. Bert has discovered some confusing data on our Grandmother Jane Sharp Rawlins’ line. For a time, baptisms for the dead were done in the Mississippi River and we have a list of those ancestors and the relationship to herself that she gave them. This doesn’t compare to the information we now have. Bert is going to the Pennsylvania area in the spring and plans to do research on this line. I feel that we should help financially to defray costs associated with the research since we all benefit from his work. We have $50.00 in the research fund now and we would appreciate any contribution you can make. Our goal is to raise $500.00. I’m acting as treasurer and will send the money to Bert in a lump sum. I haven’t been released as Secretary/Treasurer as yet. The Rawlins Family Organization could be organized at a genealogical meeting. Which brings me to the next project that has been suggested. We feel that it would be exciting to have a genealogical meeting in the spring or early summer when Bert returns and has a chance to evaluate his findings. I haven’t the oomph to put together a full-blown reunion but we could get together for a genealogical meeting. We would need to have and idea of how many to expect so we’ll know how big a place to reserve. Someone pointed out that we would all need to eat and going to a place like The Olive Garden would be about as cheap as doing a potluck. As an extra bonus is we wouldn’t have the work of setting up tables and cleanup, etc. Let me know what you think about these ideas. With my old-age computer skills, I didn’t know how we could get these documented sheets onto the www.rawlins.org site, but Lyle does. He has done such a lot of work on this web site, we are all indebted to Lyle and Steve Rawlins for the work they both do on the rawlins.org site and Myfamily.com Rawlins & Related Families site. I suspect hundreds of hours have gone into this labor of love and service. Once Bert has finished his research Lyle will set up this new information so you can easily access it from the rawlins.org home page. I love hearing from you and will be glad to know your thoughts on the above proposals. Thank you for you money and your interest.
