A blessing given by William Waddoups, patriarch, upon the head of Ariel Alfonzo Rawlins, son of Jasper Alfonzo Rawlins and Cora (Burbank) Rawlins, born November 27th, 1902, at Lewiston, Utah.

Brother Ariel Alfonzo Rawlins, I place my hands upon your head and give unto you a patriarchal blessing, which shall be a joy to you and a comfort as long as you live. My Dear Brother the Lord has been very mindful of thee and has kept thy spirit in his holy abode till the gospel has been restored to the earth again by Joseph Smith. And he has blessed you exceedingly by permitting you to be born through good and faithful parents under the bonds of the new and everlasting covenant, and now my dear brother you have been highly favored in being called into the ministry and bearing the Holy Melchesidek Priesthood, and being called as a messenger of life and salvation to an unbelieving world. And my dear brother if you will put your trust in your heavenly Father and keep the Word of Wisdom as the Lord has revealed it in thy youth, and keep they virtue which is more valuable to you than all the gold of this world, you shall go upon this mission and have the spirit of the master with you. And you shall be preserved while you are there, and be returned to the bosom of the Church again in peace and safety. You are of the linage of Joseph, that faithful boy that was sold by his brothers into Egypt. And I place his blessings upon thy head. My dear brother I seal the power of speech upon you, as a patriarch, that when you get in your mission and are called to stand before congregation it shall only be a short time before that timidness shall be banished from you. You shall be able to stand and proclaim the power of the mission of the Prophet Joseph Smith, and the principles of this latter day gospel, with the convincing of some of the honest souls that will listen to you, and your labors shall be crowned with success. After you return you shall take up your labors in the different organizations of the priesthood and become an honored son of your fathers and mothers and in the kingdom of God. I seal these blessings upon thy head in the authority of my patriarchal calling, and in the name of Jesus Christ.

Amen
